Wired Dance Music Festival makes a return to AthFest 2012, proudly celebrating its 10th anniversary! It’s been great collaborating over the years with my buddies Chris ‘Variant’ Thompson and Matt ‘Soundboi’ Nero to put on this long-running yearly event in Athens. Wired was conceived in 2002 as an AthFest showcase of local and regional talent active in the electronic music scene. 10 years and many amazing musical moments later, we’re happy to unveil the ‘Wired X’ 2012 lineup.

Athens, Ga band DubConscious returns with some new material after a brief hiatus from recording. The outfit sounds energized with a lineup shakeup and dub engineer Matt Mansfield (of Piper Street Sound fame) behind the controls. A companion remix compilation to this album is in the works as well as several new releases worth of new material.

By the time you’re reading this, my first “official” Athens art show’s been up at the Athica Gallery for a full 3 weeks, but an insanely busy work schedule has kept me from posting about it sooner. I feel it’s somewhat appropriate now though, since the closing will be on Sunday, November 6 and will also feature an appearance by myself under my (not-so) secret DJ guise D:RC. This post will also serve as a bit of a rundown about the artwork for those unable to attend the show in Athens.

Thursday, August 5th, sees the relaunch of the Knock Knock Dance Party at the Rye Bar, a collaborative attempt between myself and my buddy Merkatroid/Wonky Kong over at Jockin’ Bitz to foray into the somewhat cluttered landscape of dancefloor politics in Athens, Ga. As a veteran of the late 90′s/early 00′s dance scene boom, it pains me to see the lack of options for what I call “serious dance music” in Athens.
